A home inspection is a visual assessment of a house’s physical structure and mechanical systems, including the roof, ceilings, walls, floors, windows and doors . This inspection will happen after the seller has accepted your offer but before buying the house.

Here are three things to know about home inspections:

1.) Home inspections can cost between $300 and 500 (or more), so make sure you have those funds on hand.
2.) The inspection will take a few hours so if you’re tagging along (which you should be) make sure you point out what you see.
3.) Once you receive the inspector’s report, you’ll review it with your agent and negotiate any repairs.
